The project developed methods for incorporating real-time traffic information into logistics decisions and logistics information into traffic management. One line of work studied loading-facility scheduling under uncertain truck arrivals. Arrival-time information was translated into probabilities of trucks arriving early, on time, or late, and incorporated directly into an optimization model that could adjust loading slots before disruptions materialised.

Logistics planning and traffic management traditionally treat the same road network from different perspectives. FTMaaS asked what becomes possible when information from these two systems is used jointly rather than separately.
